Many young women feel self-conscious or embarrassed about being pregnant or having a baby because people can see they have had sex. Telling their families they are pregnant may be the first time their families find out that they are having sex.
|
Talking about sex can be one of the most difficult things to do because it is such a private experience. Talking to a partner about having or not having sex may also be difficult. People of all ages can find this one of most confusing and uncomfortable subjects to talk about. But it can very helpful to talk to an outsider who is trained as a counsellor. They are there to help you with any problems or difficulties you may be having with your partner or family, and they will respect your privacy. Many Community Health Centres have family/relationship counsellors or a maternal and child health nurse may be able to suggest someone that you can talk to.
